A year gone

Faster Monkey celebrates its one year anniversary this week (thanks, Editrixie for reminding us!)! With all the running around getting Mor ready to ship, we kind of forgot about the fact. It’s been a great year and we want to thank everyone who has helped us along the way. The folks at RPGNow, Black Blade, the artists, the many kind reviews, and –of course– you the customer.

This would be a great time to announce some cool anniversary sale, but frankly, it snuck up on us so we haven’t planned it YET. Keep your eyes open, though. We will do something soon to commemorate this milestone.

And now for something completely inane

Our sample copies arrived this weekend and we thought we’d share this goofy video of the monkeys getting their paws on hard copies of Skull Mountain for the first time.

Freebie: New Magic Item

With thanks (and apologies) to Jim Butcher

Magic Item: Feedback Loop

This plain silver ring radiates moderate magic. The command word, “Wennot,” is engraved on the inside surface in the Common Tongue.

When worn, the ring stores kinetic energy generated by everyday activities like swinging your arm as you walk, picking something up in your hand, etc. When the command word is spoken, the amassed energy is released all at once; augmenting the wearer’s strength for one action. This can be anything from lifting an object, forcing open a door, making a melee attack, etc. The extra strength cannot be doled out a bit at a time or over an extended period.

For every hour worn of normal waking activity, the ring stores enough energy for a +1 to the character’s STR modifier, up to a maximum of +4, not including bonuses from other sources like the character’s own strength, items like gauntlets of ogre power, etc. Heavy exertion, like manual labor or practicing with weapons, charges the ring at double the normal rate.

When found, unless just used by the owner, there is a 50% chance the ring has +1d4 strength bonus currently stored. Otherwise it is empty, but still radiates magic.

Summer frenzy

Usually, gaming publishers use the season’s busy convention schedule as an excuse. Unfortunately, we monkeys can’t use that one. We’re just busy trying to get products ready for YOU, our adoring fans (all three of you). Never fear! Our July release is imminent and August’s is getting steadily closer to completion. Stay tuned, and thanks for watching!
